Ceramic Scaffolds

3D Reference Scaffolds

PoroGen produces stock ceramic scaffolds from three calcium phosphate materials: Hydroxyapatite (HA), beta-tricalcium phosphate (TCP) and biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP). These materials have a long history as osteoconductive bone graft substitutes and have more recently found application as porous scaffolding materials for tissue engineering research.

The porous ceramics typically uses for biomedical research have macroporous architectures of a complex and random nature. This makes them difficult to define quantitatively and results in variability regarding the physical properties of the scaffold and, therefore, potential consequences regarding research results.

Utilizing Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing, PoroGen produces ceramic reference scaffolds with a regular orthogonal macroporous architecture. The scaffolds are around 50% porous and have overall dimensions of approximately 5.0 x 3.5 x 2.7 mm.
